8 actors that are actually Kpop idols

Idols turned actors, park jinyoung, krystal jung, IU, yuk sungjae

Countless debates are constantly going on if idols should have the opportunity to act given that the chances and roles out there are limited. Even though we do have amazing talents in the K-drama industry, some actors/actresses might surprises you with their idol background.

These handpicked idols turn actors are selected solely because I’ve seen their dramas before and able to translate it better.

BTOB’s Yuk Sungjae

Most of you might remember him as the nephew in hit drama Goblin back in 2016. Sungjae is a true all-rounder celebrity and also the magnae of a 7 members boy group BTOB. Even though he just enlist into the mandatory military service, we will still be able to catch him on screen.

IU – Lee Ji Eun

Everyone knows who is the most arrogant and bad tempered CEO Jang Man Wol from Hotel del Luna, the time traveler Hae Soo to Scarlet Heart and the veteran idol Cindy from The Producers. Lee Ji Eun, better known as IU (her stage name) debut as a solo singer with many hit tracks like ‘You and I’, ‘Good Day’ and her latest comeback ‘eight’.

GOT7’s Park Jinyoung

It will be a sin not to include him here. Our Actor Park is slowly rising and gaining his fame as an actor with the ongoing drama ‘When Love Blooms‘ and a totally opposite character Yi Ahn in ‘He is Psychometric‘. He made his first acting debut back in 2012, Dream High 2 and debut in a 7 members boy group GOT7 in 2014.

f(x)’s Krystal Jung

Krystal Jung debut under SM Entertainment’s girl group, f(x) in 2009. Her role in The Heirs as Lee Bo Na probably left the strongest impression but I also love her role as daredevil Cha Ah Ryung in Player as well as Yoon Se Na in My Lovely Girl. Really look forward to her next drama ‘The Search’ by OCN which will likely air in October 2020.

INFINITE’s L – Kim Myung Soo

Kim Myung Soo, better known as L (his stage name) debut as a member of a boy band INFINITE back in 2010. He is one of the idols that receive blessing in the k-drama industry as well. Remember him leaving impression as Shi Woo who is an idol in My Lovely Girl. In Angel’s Last Mission: Love, he is an angel and he was a cat in the recently ended drama, Meow, the Secret Boy.

Lee Seung Gi

Majority might have impression that Seunggi is an actor or an entertainer, but he debut as a singer and known as the ‘ballad prince’. I’m sure you know or heard of the songs by him like ‘Will you marry me?’ and ‘Because you’re my woman’.

Miss A’s Bae Suzy

Suzy debut as the magnae of Miss A under JYP Entertainment, they are pretty well-known girl group during the 2nd Generation Kpop time with f(x), Girls Generation and more. After their disband, she chose to sign on with acting agency and we will be seeing more of her. Personally really anticipate her next movie, Wonderland which she will be acting alongside Park Bo Gum.

Block B’s P.O. – Pyo Ji Hoon

Pyo Ji Hoon, better known as P.O. (his stage name) is a rapper and singer debut under a boy group Block B. Most of you might know him through variety show New Journey to the West or as the receptionist Ji Hyun Joong in Hotel del Luna. For me, he caught my attention through his role as Kim Jin Myung from Encounter.

In 2020, he will be working on a new drama with Ong Seong Woo and Shin Ye Eun for ‘Chances of going from friends to lovers’ (literal translation).

Of course there are more idols turn actors like EXO’s D.O., Girls Generation’s Yoona, Girls’ Day’s Hyeri, ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo and SF9’s Rowoon, the list just goes on.
