The drama is set in 1980, two youngsters who were swept up by the Gwangju Uprising*. Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun) is a troublemaker who hates anything predictable in life. Raise up by his single mother, he proves people wrong by being the top student and entered Seoul National University College of Medicine.
Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si) is a hardworking nurse who left home and live alone in Gwangju. She is beautiful, smart and skillful but Myung Hee is not the friendly type of person who will give comfort to sad patients.
Lee Soo Ryun (Geum Sae Rok) and Lee Soo Chun (Lee Sang Yi) are siblings from wealthy family. Soo Ryun is Myung Hee’s best friend with an easygoing personality. She feels obligated to front justices in societal issues. Her older brother Soo Chun came back from France and started to help the family business.
*Gwangju Uprising is a popular uprising in the city of Gwangju, South Korea in May 1980. Estimated that around 144 people are killed in the event. The event is sometimes known as 5-18.
The drama is said to premiere on 3 May 2021.
