6 Historical Chinese Dramas you should watch in 2022

If historical drama is your cup of tea, you land in the right page. Ancient Chinese history can be a never ending textbook with countless stories we are still discovering every day.

Through the lens of the dramas, be it imperial palaces or the world of Wuxia. Mixing real historical figures and legends as well as fiction characters. It is really a pleasure seeing how the scriptwriters and novelist turn stories into motion pictures. From wardrobe to props, from hairstyle to all the nitty gritty details that differs from different era.

Here are a few of my picks that was released from 2021 to current date that I love.

The martial arts drama is based on two unrivaled heroes, Hei Feng Xi and Bai Feng Xi. Hei Feng Xi is handsome, smart, and elegant. Bai Feng Xi is an unrestrained and capable young woman.

A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College

The drama is set in the imperial college 国子监 (which was founded in the Sui Dynasty) where Grand Marshal’s daughter, Sang Qi becomes the only female student.

The historical drama took place in Jian An country, story of Jiang Bao Ning, the princess who did not want to be locked behind the palace walls. She met Li Qian, an Imperial Army leader by chance and they went under the radar to dig out truth behind cases.

The drama is set in the Yuan Dynasty and the life of a strong headed, smart woman, Zhao Pan Er. In her little teahouse she co-own with her friend Sun San Niang, she met Gu Qian Fan, a commander from the Capital. Given the nickname The Living Devil, he was being assassinated in the village Zhao Pan Er lives.
