Drama

Review: Hit the top (2017)

Lee Ji Hoon is a 90s idol that transported to 2017 where he met his son who is pursuing dream to be an idol.

No. of episodes: 16 (on netflix)
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy, Time Travel

Original network: KBS
Native Title: 최고의 한방

How I found this title? I was not so into the K-drama scene back in 2017, but I chance upon the card in Netflix while I’m planning to download a series to survive my holidays.

Netflix used Cha Eun Woo as the lead for the drama, so I give it a try… And I like it, even though he is not the lead.

The leads

All begins with Lee Ji Hoon (acted by Kim Min Jae) and Choi Woo Seung (acted by Lee
Se Young), the childhood friends that happen to be preparing for the civil service exam.

However, Ji Hoon’s dream is to debut as a singer and songwriter, not a civil servant that his family wants him to pursue. Yoo Hyun Jae (acted by Yoon Shi Yoon) a 90s popular idol that time travel from 1993 to 2017 and met Ji Hoon, Woo Seung and MC Drill (acted by Dong Hyun Bae).

The Dream

Ji Hoon secretly goes to Star Entertainment as a trainee instead of going to school every day. He met MC Drill through training days and they became best friends.

The route they took to finally debut is hard and almost impossible.

Love triangle

As childhood friends, Ji Hoon has a secret crush on Woo Seung for the longest time. Yet every time there’s bound to be something happen right before his confession.

After he finally confess, things got a little awkward as Woo Seung is unable to reciprocate the feelings.

End up, Woo Seung and Hyun Jae fell for each other. Even though it is very wrong to be. (SPOILER: Hyun Jae is actually Ji Hoon’s birth father.)

With Hyun Jae trying to find out what happened to his death in 1994 and the disappeared secret money he took in 1993, things get a little complicated.

There are other part of the story that I did not mention, but overall it is really enjoyable and funny drama to catch.

Rating: 🥔🥔🥔 (3.5/5)
