The drama is adapted from the web novel Shining! Hotel Queen, story about a group of interns reporting for work at a top hotel chain. Yue Ran (Ma Meng Wei) is an inspiring hotelier that dreams to receive the highest recognition of receiving the Golden Key. She met her idol who is a fellow hotelier with the Golden Key, David (Bu Gan Zhi) during her internship but also her nightmare, Xie Fan Yu who is the acting General Manager.
ZAD is a top hotel chain that faces investors’ funding issues in the background, trying to increase 40% of their revenue in order to survive. To save the hotel, the Director and owner Xie Li Ming (Li Hua) sent his son Xie Fan Yu (Eden Zhao Zhi Wei) to help the hotel.
Internship
Yue Ran joined ZAD as an intern along with her classmates, Ning Jia Jia (Xu Wan Ting), Su Shan (Cynthia Yu Ying Ying), and Luo Fei (Cheng Zi Ying). They are joined with a group of interns from other universities and are rotated between different departments randomly.
Yue Ran was sent to housekeeping to begin her internship. Working alongside her idol is one of the dreams, David is the Assistant General Manager of ZAD. During her first assignment, she mistook Fan Yu as the thief and pervert in the hotel and got security to catch him.
Courtship
The bossy, picky General Manager Xie Fan Yu is strict and on his mission to revamp the hotel. He did not like a single thing about the current operation. The hot-headed but passionate intern, Yue Ran and her ways to clear obstacles left him quite an impression.
Both David and Fan Yu start to woo Yue Ran in their own ways. Fan Yu is an idiot when it comes to romance and has no idea what a female thinks. He created several opportunities to confess to her with the guide from the hotel’s bar owner but end up failed. David got the opportunity and confessed to her, they begin their relationship.
Career ceiling
Yue Ran ended their short relationship as she felt it isn’t right during her interactions with David. Soon David became her ex. The director Xie Li Ming announced to the board that his son will officially sit on the position as the hotel’s General Manager, the position that David has potential for as well.
After the breakup, David gave Fan Yu the first challenge. He resigned and pull all the front office and more hoteliers with him. Force Fan Yu to bow down and eventually saved the unthinkable. Even though they became ‘friends’, David still resigned as he met his career ceiling. Before he left, he told him about someone (investors) is behind all the sabotage in the hotel.
Ex-girlfriend
Bai Ling Long (Charry Qi) is the mysterious investor of ZAD, but her appearance (from episode 13 onwards) at ZAD hotel onwards cause chaos to the hotel and multiple sabotage to snatch Fan Yu back.
Ling Long left Fan Yu without a single word during their internship in Switzerland, now she returns and wants him to return as well. Seeing Fan Yu’s current love and felt like she doesn’t deserve him.
Even after they settle the ex-girlfriend problem, they face the investment and funding issue. Will Fan Yu able to save the hotel? Will Yue Ran get her dream Golden Key?
