2018 11 22 59121 1542859015 Large

No. of episodes: 16
Genre: Fantasy, Romance

Original title: 알함브라 궁전의 추억

The final episode is released on Netflix and this means it is coming to an end.

I did my first impression with the synopsis when I just started episode 1 – 4. Now, I’m ready to summarise my thoughts of this drama.

DISCLAIMER: If you hate spoilers, exit now!

The biggest takeaway from this drama

Trust is the magic that changes the world, not the technology – Memories of the Alhambra

This is the last sentence that the scriptwriter wants to convey to all the viewers. “Trust” hard to earn but it will give one so much strength to continue.

To narrate it better, JinWoo is the only person that went through hell lots of hardship ever since he started playing the game that he eventually acquired.

He lost his nemesis, the brother-like secretary, and the man that he respected the most. No one understands how they died and the arrows are all pointed to him, the murderer.

Ever since his nemesis, Hyun Suk got killed and became NPC (only visible to him) people start to think he is crazy and uncontrollable. In order to survive, he needs to level up and one thing leads to another.

No one trusts him until Hee Joo came along.

The biggest mystery – Game developer, Sejoo

Our biggest mystery of all time, literally the entire drama. Why is disappear, where is he and is he alive?

Where is Sejoo (acted by Chan Yeol)? He will reappear back in episode 14 and that is when things got even more intense.

Message from Master – Quest

When JinWoo leveled to 90, he receives a message from master, which is missing Sejoo. Starting from here, he sees the hope that Sejoo is alive and it is possible to find him and bring him back home.

The only hope to see Sejoo again, but only JinWoo is able to complete the quest.

From episode 13 onwards, everything starts to make sense. It feels like things are getting strung together, the jigsaw puzzle is slowly forming together.

Heartbreaking moments

When Jung Hoon, secretary to JinWoo, got killed in the game when he entered the Granada zone which caused his life.

However, he will reappear as his ally when he is in danger. Still, it is not him anymore as he became the NPC in the game.

Final episode: This is the moment that I feel pain with JinWoo. He needs to stab him with the key to delete the bug in the game and he is the 3rd but most painful goodbye to him.

Review Memories Of The Alhambra

Overall

This is not all sad and thrilling scenes, there are cute and funny moments as well. That will be for you to catch it along the way.

Just like W – Two Worlds, the scriptwriter wrote tough love for the main leads. This leads to a somewhat hopeful ending but definitely not a fairytale ending.
