Adapted from a webtoon Sunbae, Don’t Put That Lipstick On. The drama is about Chae Hyun Seung (SF9’s Rowoon) who works as a marketing rookie for a cosmetic brand who fell for his mentor Yoon Song Ah (Won Jin Ah).

Underground relationship

Developed more interest while working day in and out under Song Ah, Hyun Seung tries to drop hints that he is just one year junior and don’t treat him like a kid.

However, his unrequited love almost ended shortly when he discovered that their team’s BM Lee Jae Shin (Lee Hyun Wook) is dating Song Ah. While visiting his older sister Chae Ji Seung (Wang Bit Na), he saw Jae Shin and Lee Hyo Joo (Lee Joo Bin) entering Ji Seung’s wedding shop as prospective newlyweds.

Song Ah hit almost her breaking point, feeling betrayed, furious, wronged, sad and you name it. Wanted to break through the doors but Hyun Seung holds her back to think twice. After that trip, Song Ah enters into a slump yet has to brace her inner monster during work.

Every day since then, she is dropping hints and hopes that Jae Shin will be honest about it. Hope that he will eventually return to her, Song Ah hopes just decreases as time goes by.

Winning through action

Time slowly proves Hyun Seung’s sincerity, when Song Ah started to blame him for showing her the harsh truth. He might confess at the wrong timing, but Hyun Seung told Song Ah that he will be there for her even in a distance.

Hyun Seung and Song Ah play fake couple during times where they are facing Jae Shin only. On multiple occasions, Hyun Seung saved Song Ah from the scene, and during this period is where Hyo Joo discovers her presence.

From the thought of revenge to really fell for this hoobae at work. Song Ah is reluctant to enter another underground office romance but struggles because she didn’t want to give a miss. Same time, Jae Shin started to give hurdles to this couple by separating them from work. Moving Hyun Seung under another segment as both of them directly reports to him.

The real dilemma

Jae Shin became this jerk not because he wants to, but technically it was his choice to enter. Hyo Joo commit suicide after knowing that Jae Shin will never be with her. Through actions and pity, Lee Jae Woon (Lee Kyu Han) convinced Jae Shin to accept his sister.

Jae Woon is one of the company’s director, a direct boss to Jae Shin, and friends with him since high school. However, their friendship is only one-sided as Jae Shin did not feel the same. Him not confessing that he is already dating Song Ah is the biggest mistake ever.
